Roma could be set to beat the likes of Chelsea to the signing of Porto striker Jackson Martinez, according to Fichajes. net.
The 27-year-old has attracted plenty of interest in recent times after two superb seasons in the Portuguese flight, with a total of 41 league goals in just 53 appearances for Porto so far.
The Colombian international looked like being on the move last summer as the likes of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund reportedly tracked him, though he remained with his current club for another year. Still, his continued form in front of goal has seen him become a major talking point again ahead of this summer’s transfer window, and it now looks as though Roma could be winning the chase against other major suitors Chelsea to sign the talented goal-poacher. Roma still have money to spend after the sales of key pair Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo last year, and have made new attacking players a priority, with Martinez now looking to be the answer to their problems upfront.
This will come as some blow for Chelsea, who have been on the lookout for replacements for the likes of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba in attack.
