Chelsea could be ready to sell German winger Andre Schurrle after just one season with the club, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 23-year-old only arrived at Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen in an 18million deal last summer, but has not made a significant impact on the club’s first team since joining.
Despite being one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attacking players last season, Schurrle has managed just three goals in all competitions for Chelsea, and has struggled to make regular appearances for the team. With Jose Mourinho preferring the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian, and signing Mohamed Salah from Basel in January, Schurrle’s future at the club is now in some doubt.
He’s struggled to make the impact we’d hoped, it’s true, a club insider said. “Mourinho’s not one to shy away from getting rid of players quickly, and given that he’s not included him in the team that much, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was sold. I’m not aware of any interest at the moment, but we’ll see in the summer if some offers come in and what Mourinho’s plans are.
