Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could look to sign Marcelo from his old club Real Madrid, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Blues are on the lookout for a new signing at left-back this summer as veteran defender Ashley Cole looks increasingly likely to leave the club after falling out of favour with Mourinho this season.
This has seen the likes of Layvin Kurzawa of Monaco and Camilo Zuniga of Napoli linked with moves to Stamford Bridge in recent times, though a club source now believes Mourinho is keen to be reunited with Brazilian left-back Marcelo.
The 25-year-old has been a top performer for Real in the last few years, and improved his game further during Mourinho’s time in charge at the Bernabeu. With the Spanish giants seemingly looking to sell Fabio Coentrao in the summer, that could make Chelsea’s chances of signing Marcelo pretty slim. Still, some stories suggest that manager Carlo Ancelotti will look to bring in another highly rated La Liga left-back in Alberto Moreno from Sevilla, which could push Marcelo down in the pecking order or help make him available. Chelsea were also linked with Coentrao a few months back, but Mourinho was quick to deny rumours that he was chasing the Portuguese international.
