Juventus look set to rival Chelsea and Napoli for the signing of Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Argentine international, formerly of Liverpool, has been linked with a return to the Premier League with current league leaders Chelsea, who are believed to be on the lookout for new signings in midfield this summer.
Mascherano is also a long-time target of Napoli manager Rafael Benitez, who initially signed the player during his time in charge of Liverpool, and who is ready to offer him the chance to return to his favoured defensive midfield role, having often been played as a centre-back during his time with Barcelona.
The 29-year-old has now become a target for Juventus as well, with the Serie A giants facing the possible departure of key midfield pair Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba in the upcoming transfer window.

Mascherano has won two La Liga titles and one Champions League trophy during his time at Barca, and his experience could see him become a good addition for Juventus as they look to take their game to the next level in Europe next season. I’ve heard that Juventus could be our main competitor for Mascherano, a Chelsea insider explained. “We’ll see what happens, but they could have a lot of money to spend if players like Pogba and Vidal leave. “
