Chelsea’s hopes of signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago have taken a move backwards after Turkish club Besiktas made moves. The Portuguese midfielder is out of contract this summer after a superb season with Atletico Madrid which saw him help them to a La Liga title and finish as runners up in the Champions League. His departure has seen many European clubs show interest with former club Chelsea, who he played for during the 2004/2005 season; keen to spark a reunion. Current Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho signed Tiago back then and is said to be extremely keen to bring him back to Stamford Bridge. However, that could now be made unlikely after Turkish club Besiktas came in with a substantial offer. Reports in Turkish press claim that Besiktas have offered the 33-year-old a two-year contract which will see him earn a bumper pay deal, trumping the offer of Chelsea, who were keen on a short deal only.
