Paris Saint-Germain want Chelsea defender David Luiz to replace Alex, who is out of contract, in their back-line this summer. Alex, who joined PSG from Chelsea in 2012, is out of contract and, while the Brazilian has said that he expects to be offered a new deal by the French champions, it is claimed that his compatriot Luiz is key as to whether he remains at the Parc des Princes or not. According to French newspaper L’Equipe, PSG are keen to sign Luiz, as has been heavily reported, and use the Chelsea star as a replacement for Alex, allowing the 31-year-old to leave. As both are Brazilian, they are both non-EU players and PSG are reluctant to have both and would only offer Alex an extension if they were to fail with a move for Luiz – the French club are expected to make their move for the former Benfica defender before the start of the World Cup.
