Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is widely expected to make a summer move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The former England international is widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and that has led a number of clubs to show interest and take advantage of his expiring contract. Cole, who played just 15 games this season in the Premier League, became surplus to requirements under Jose Mourinho after Cesar Azpilicueta impressed at left-back, prompting him to announce his decision to leave the club. A number of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, have shown interest aswell a number of clubs from Major League Soccer and Spanish giants Real Madrid. And, it is widely expected that he will make a lucrative move to the latter, where he could link up with former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti. Ashley has been offered a short term deal at Madrid, a source close to the Spanish capital side told us. “They expect him to join and provide competition for Marcelo and Coentrao, one of which could leave if he comes in. Real Madrid finished third in La Liga but could win the Champions League on Saturday when they face rivals Atletico Madrid in Lisbon.
