Chelsea may be ready to offer David Luiz to Real Madrid in a bid to land Raphael Varane, FootballDirectNews.com understands. Blues manager Jose Mourinho remains a big fan of youngster Varane after working with him during his time in charge at the Bernabeu, whilst also being open to selling Luiz this summer.
The Brazilian centre-back has been linked numerous times with Barcelona, and is believed to be a top target for the Catalan giants after veteran stopper Carles Puyol announced he would be leaving the club at the end of this season.
However, Mourinho would rather not sell a player to Barca, whom he has a long-standing personal rivalry with, and now looks ready to use the 26-year-old as a pawn in a deal to bring in one of his preferred targets.
The 20-year-old Frenchman has spent much of this season out injured, but remains one of the most highly rated young defenders in Europe, and could be a good addition for Chelsea as they look to find long-term replacements for the long-serving John Terry.

I’ve heard there’s a chance we could do a deal with Real Madrid, involving Luiz and Varane, a club insider revealed. “Obviously Barcelona are interested, but I think Jose would prefer to avoid doing business with them if possible. “
