Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher thinks his former club still have faint hope of lifting the Premier League title. The former Reds defender believes that if Brendan Rodgers’ men get off to a storming start against Newcastle at Anfield and Manchester City are struggling at home to West Ham then nerves could kick in at the Etihad. City realistically need just a point to confirm their second league title in three years due to the club’s superior goal average which is 13 better than Liverpool, while they remain two points ahead of the Reds. The Citizens did nearly blow the Premier League title two years ago on a nervy day and needed a dramatic late win at home to Queens Park Rangers to seal the triumph after losing going into the final few minutes. And Carragher thinks anxiety could play its part today. “You don’t expect City to lose their game but there’s always hope,” he told Sky Sports. If Liverpool start the game well and City are struggling then the atmosphere could eclipse everything.
