Manchester City are monitoring the situation of Dani Alves at Barcelona after reports that he could be sold surfaced. Three defeats in three different competitions have seen Barcelona begin preparations for next season and it is expected that Dani Alves will be sold this summer. The Brazilian full-back has played an important part in the Catalan club’s history in recent seasons but it has become notable that he is made a ‘scapegoat’ by media and fans of the club. Whilst the club are keen to offer the 30-year-old defender a new contract and Alves is willing to stay, such proposals are yet to be agreed and should they fail, it is expected that the likes of Paris Saint Germain and Man City will make a move. Both have been extremely interested this season with City keen after he scored a goal in each leg of the Champions League tie against them. Barca do have Martin Montoya lying in wait should Alves leave but the coming weeks in regard to contract negotiations will determine whether or not he leaves this summer.
