The best attack in the Premier League faces the most solid defence on Sunday as Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield. Liverpool have scored 96 goals this season in the Premier League which has helped Brendan Rodgers’ side to the top of the table and within touching distance of a first league title in 24 years.  Luis Suarez (30) and Daniel Sturridge (20) have scored a total of 50 goals between them in the league this season and place first and second in the Premier League’s list of top scorers, while captain Steven Gerrard has contributed 13 goals and youngster Raheem Sterling has waded in with nine.

Although, while Liverpool have been the most prolific in front of goal, their defence has been under scrutiny, conceding 44 goals in the Premier League this season – 18 more than Chelsea, who boast the league’s best defence having been breached only 26 times.  Under Jose Mourinho Chelsea have been noted for their solid defence and have kept 16 clean sheets in the Premier League, although the Blues will have to contend with a number of injuries for their trip to Anfield with first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech and John Terry injured while Samuel Eto’o and Eden Hazard are also doubtful.
