Bayern Munich will do battle with Manchester United for the signing of Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte, according to BILD. The young Basque defender has been in superb form this season for Athletic Bilbao and has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including AS Monaco, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. The latter have been extremely interested as David Moyes plans to bolster his defensive options and replace the outgoing Nemanja Vidic, who is leaving to join Inter Milan. However, it is now reported in German press that Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is keen to push for the defender after watching him from a number of times this season. Whilst the report does go on to add that Bayern have been told by Athletic Bilbao that he would only leave if his 30m release fee is met, it is still expected that the Bundesliga champions will make a summer move.
