Barcelona are set to begin negotiations with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Marco Reus, according to Fichajes. net.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in European football over the last couple of seasons, and has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in the past. Barcelona now look to be the favourites to land him this summer as the German playmaker’s agent heads to Spain to start talks over a proposed move for his client.
This will come as welcome news for fans of the Catalan club, who have endured a somewhat disappointing season this year and have called for changes to be made at management level as well as to the key areas of the squad. Reus was actually recently voted as the fans’ first choice to come in upfront, proving more popular than the likes of Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero on a poll on Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
This will represent another major blow to Dortmund, however, as the Bundesliga giants have had to deal with the departures of key players such as Shinji Kagawa and Mario Goetze in the recent past, and who will also lose star striker Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer to Bayern Munich this summer.
