FC Barcelona are set to reignite their interest in Chelsea’s David Luiz after their recent FIFA-enforced transfer ban was lifted on Wednesday. The Catalans have been hotly linked with the Brazilian since last summer and were preparing a bid before restrictions were put into place by football’s governing body. However, the recent respite given to Bara by FIFA means they can delve into the transfer market once again where they are intent on making new defensive additions. Luiz meets all the criteria that the club is searching for in their new centre-back and a bid for the player is imminent. Barcelona will be obliged to carry out their business rapidly as FIFA have only suspended the ban until a final decision is made. The club is short of centre-backs and will be without Carles Puyol from next campaign with the club captain announcing that he will be leaving the club in the summer.
