Barcelona could offer Chelsea target Javier Mascherano to Juventus in a bid to land Arturo Vidal, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Argentine midfielder, formerly of Liverpool, has recently been linked with Chelsea and has also been a long-time target for Napoli, who are managed by his former boss at Anfield, Rafael Benitez.
However, Juventus have also shown an interest in the last few days, as they eye midfield reinforcements for next season, with the futures of Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio in some doubt, as well as Vidal himself. Barcelona are one of many clubs chasing the talented Chilean, who has a terrific record of 18 goals and 5 assists from midfield this season, and they may now be ready to use Mascherano as bait to help push through a deal, a European football expert has claimed. Juve may be more willing to allow Vidal to leave with the promise of a quality replacement coming in return, though it remains to be seen if Mascherano himself would favour a move to Chelsea or Napoli.
The 29-year-old has been largely played as a centre-back during his time at the Nou Camp, and is hoping to return to his favoured defensive midfield role if he changes clubs.
