FC Barcelona are considering an offer for Arsenal playmaker Mesut zil following the temporary suspension of their FIFA-enforced transfer ban, according to reports in Catalonia. Sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is a big fan of the German midfielder, who joined Arsenal from rivals Real Madrid for 42.5million in September of last year, and would like to incorporate him into next season’s squad. zil started the season brightly at the Emirates but has dipped in form since the turn of the year, leading some sections of the Arsenal faithful to turn against their star man. The Catalan club are keeping tabs on the situation and could make an offer in the not too distant future. Barcelona’s transfer ban was lifted temporarily until FIFA make a final decision and therefore the club is looking to do its business as quickly as possible. Barcelona are aiming to strengthen their midfield but are only willing to pay up to 25million, according to La Porteria. The club came close to signing the player in the 2011/12 season for 12million but instead opted to sign Cesc Fabregas.
