Departing Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes’ representatives have held talks with several Premier League clubs, according to reports. Valdes will leave the Nou camp at the end of the season once his contract expires and reports have suggest the goalkeeper has a decision to make between Monaco and Manchester City as to where he will be playing next season.
While former Barca full-back Eric Abidal is at Monaco, and Valdes is believed to be attracted to the lifestyle that is on offer at the French club, another of his former team-mates, Yaya Toure, is at Man City – as is Alvaro Negredo and David Silva whom he knows from international duty.
However, according to SPORT, a number of Premier League clubs have held talks with Valdes’ representatives including Man City, while Liverpool have also been named in the report. Should Valdes move to either club, it would mostly spell the end for the current first-choice at the club – Joe Hart has been linked with a move away, but Simon Mignolet has impressed in his debut season for Liverpool and any move away for the Belgian would come as a surprise. Brendan Rodgers did confirm this week that he feels that Pepe Reina’s Liverpool career is over with the Spaniard currently on a season-long loan at Napoli.
