Barcelona are reportedly close to announcing the signing of Atletico Madrid defender and Manchester United target Miranda. According to a report on, the Brazilian centre-back will arrive at the Nou Camp in the next few weeks as sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta aims to complete a 16 million deal. The 29-year-old has formed part of the best defence in Spain this season alongside Diego Godin and has helped the club claim their first La Liga title in 18 years. Miranda will also play in the Champions League Final on Saturday when Atletico meet city rivals Real Madrid in the Lisbon showpiece. Miranda is believed to have a ˆ30 million (24 million) release clause in his contract although Sport believe he could leave for cheaper. The Brazilian is also being targeted by United as new boss Louis van Gaal aims to rebuild his depleted defence. The departure of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand from the Old Trafford ranks means the Dutch coach must find some top class replacements this summer.
