Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa may yet reject the chance to sign for Chelsea this summer, according to Fichajes. net.
The Brazilian-born Spanish international has just had a superb season crowned by a sensational title win in La Liga for Atletico, and it is now thought that he may be keen to extend his stay at the Vicente Calderon. A fee of 32million is believed to be agreed between Atletico and Chelsea, but personal terms for Costa to move to Stamford Bridge may still be incomplete, and it looks as though the 25-year-old could still decide against putting pen to paper on a contract with the Premier League side. Diego Simeone’s side look like a team very much on the up after their incredible title win, and they will be looking to make it a double when they take on rivals Real Madrid in next week’s Champions League final in Lisbon. Chelsea, meanwhile, finished trophyless this season, and were knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by Atletico, with Costa scoring from the penalty spot.
This will no doubt be welcome news to Atletico, who have had to deal with the departures of numerous star players down the years, though their success may now help establish them among the European elite.
