Atletico Madrid are considering making a summer move for in-demand Roma striker Mattia Destro, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form in Serie A this season, scoring 13 goals in just 19 appearances to stake his claim for a more regular starting spot, as well as to attract interest from top clubs all around Europe. Arsenal are among his admirers, as are their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, while Liverpool and Inter Milan have also been keeping tabs on his performances this season. Still, Atletico could have plenty of money to spend on a new striker this summer as their current star Diego Costa is reportedly set to make a 32million move to Chelsea before next season, leaving manager Diego Simeone to address the big gap he would leave upfront. Atletico have also lost big names such as Sergio Aguero and Radamel Falcao in the recent past, but they have often done well to bring in quality replacements, and Destro is seemingly now their top target to replace Costa. Roma will be keen not to lose another of their star players, having lost the likes of Pablo Osvaldo, Erik Lamela and Marquinhos last summer.
