Atletico Madrid could look to Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris to replace loan star Thibaut Courtois, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Spanish giants are unlikely to be able to keep hold of Courtois, currently at the club on a third consecutive loan spell from Chelsea, as he has improved his reputation tremendously during his time in La Liga. Chelsea could be ready to make the talented Belgian youngster their number one next season, while other top clubs such as Barcelona have been linked with a move for the player as well.
This would leave Atletico with a significant gap to fill in their team, and some high-profile targets have already been linked as possible replacements between the posts, including Newcastle United shot-stopper Tim Krul, and Malaga’s Willy Caballero. Lloris may now be the leading candidate on Diego Simeone’s list, with the Frenchman showing himself to be one of the most impressive goalkeepers in the Premier League since joining Tottenham last season.
The likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the former Lyon man in recent months, as he may look to leave White Hart Lane after Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League again this year.
