Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has admitted that Chelsea are interested in Diego Costa and could sign the player in the summer.
The Argentine boss also raised eyebrows by saying he would not stand in the 25-year-old’s way if he wanted to move to the Premier League side.
The Brazilian born Spanish striker has been sensational this season scoring 26 goals in 31 appearances – resulting in the Rojiblancos being top of La Liga and in a Champions League semi-final. But despite Costa’s incredible form there were fears his season had been brought to a premature end when he smashed his knee into the post as he scored against Getafe at the weekend – until tests confirmed it was just a bad gash. And Simeone believes that kind of commitment aligned with his ability is bound to draw interest from others. “His future depends on him and what he feels is best for his future,” he told AS. “It’s normal that Chelsea are interested in him. They are an economic power, Samuel Eto’o is getting older and Costa can do his work, but right now he’s ours. ”
