Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has urged boss Arsene Wenger to select attacker Lukas Podolski more frequently following his brace in the 3-1 victory over West Ham United. The Germany international inspired the Gunners to come from behind in the London derby at the Emirates Stadium, sending Arsene Wenger’s side back into fourth place in the Premier League table. They still face a fight to qualify for the Champions League as Everton can jump back above them if they win their game in hand, but the Toffees have arguably the harder run-in on paper. Wright, the club’s second highest goalscorer of all-time behind Thierry Henry, was relieved to see Podolski given a full game against the Hammers and tipped him to add more goals before the end of the season if Wenger keeps the faith. His two-goal salvo sandwiched a fine strike from targetman Olivier Giroud. Wright said on Twitter: “Brilliant goal @_OlivierGiroud_ ! And I’m pleased that podolski finally gets to finish a game! Let him play more! He will score more.”Read more Arsenal transfer news.
