Arsenal must start competing in the transfer market to challenge for the title again, and the fans deserve to see the world’s best players, according to club legend Frank McLintock.
The Gunners have not won the league since 2004, letting big name players such as Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Ashley Cole, Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie go, without bringing in top quality players to replace them.

Much of the blame has been placed on paying off the Emirates Stadium that Arsenal moved into in 2006, while still managing to achieve a top four finish every season to qualify for the Champions League.
However, with no trophy since 2005 the fans are growing restless, with many feeling manager Arsene Wenger’s time has come to say goodbye. With the stadium almost paid off, Arsenal did spend big in the summer, bringing in club record signing Mesut Ozil for 42. 5 million from Real Madrid.
However, the squad was not strengthened in January and as a result the Gunners title bid has faltered.

McLintock captained Arsenal to the double in 1971, and claims the fans deserve more for their money, with the cheapest season ticket at the Emirates costing almost 1,000.
He told talkSPORT: “We are an extremely expensive club, probably one of the most expensive teams to go and watch in all of the world and if we can charge the supporters that kind of money then we should demand the best players available. ”
