Arsenal may consider selling Santi Cazorla in a bid to raise funds for the return of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Gunners are being strongly linked with making a move to bring their former captain back from the Nou Camp this summer, while Manchester United are also interested in the unsettled Spanish international. With Fabregas likely to cost somewhere in the region of 35million to bring back to the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will need to sell at least one player before spending that kind of money, though they did break their transfer record to sign Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid last summer. Still, it is thought that Cazorla could be the player to make way, despite the former Malaga man impressing since joining the club last season.
The 29-year-old had a slightly less effective second season with Arsenal, and has previously hinted that he would be keen to end his career back in his native Spain, with Valencia mentioned as potential suitors for him this summer. With Arsene Wenger known for favouring younger players in his squad, Cazorla’s advancing years could mean the Frenchman is willing to cash in on him now to seal a potentially huge move for Fabregas, who was one of the best players in the Premier League during his first spell in north London.
