Arsenal could try again to sign former Newcastle United star Yohan Cabaye this summer, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The French international only left St James’ Park to join Paris Saint-Germain in January, having also been linked with a number of other top clubs in the preceding months. Arsenal were one of the teams that tried to sign Cabaye last summer, and they now look to have received a boost in their pursuit of the 28-year-old, who has not made a big impact at PSG since his big-money move. After establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, Cabaye has only had a bit-part role to play at the Parc des Princes, often being limited to substitute appearances, while other big-name players continue to be linked with the club as the summer transfer window approaches. With the Ligue 1 champions targeting the likes of Miralem Pjanic and Marco Reus, it could be that Cabaye will not feature in their plans next season, and an Arsenal source believes the Gunners could then look to sign him again. It has been suggested that he’s already looking like leaving PSG, a club insider explained. “We’ve obviously tried to get him before and I think we’d still be interested, so this could be one that happens this summer. “
