Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could use the sale of Olivier Giroud to his advantage if he fancies any of Paris Saint Germain or Monaco’s top performers.
The French boss has been hot and cold on his liking of striker Olivier Giroud this season and following the news that the striker’s wife wants to move back to France, could be ready to sell this summer. Giroud arrived at the club in 2012 from Ligue 1 club Montpellier and has impressed, scoring 35 goals in 84 appearances so far.
However, his antics off the field that saw him linked to a reported fling with a stripper have seen his personal life affect his professional life, leading to a desire to return to France. Both Paris Saint Germain and AS Monaco have been linked with a summer move and [FDN] understands that Arsene Wenger is toying with the idea of a potential swap move. Wenger is a keen admirer of players from both clubs, with the likes of PSG’s Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edinson Cavani, Marco Verratti and Monaco’s James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho all linked to the Gunners in the past. Should Wenger decide on attempted a move for any of the aforementioned players then it is understood he will try and use Giroud in any deal.
