Everton face tough competition to sign Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, after AC Milan and Valencia also entered the race for his signature. Navas is currently one of Europe’s most sought after goalkeepers following his hugely impressive displays for La Liga side Levante this season.
AC Milan are the latest big club to show interest in the 27-year old as they search for a long-term replacement for veteran Christian Abbiati. Levante’s local rivals Valencia are also monitoring the displays of the Costa Rican, after Vicente Guaita has told the club he no longer wishes to carry on at Los Che, as well as Diego Alves rejecting the club’s latest contract. Navas is just one match away from breaking the record for most clean sheets in a La Liga season since Gustavo Munua completed 11 matches without conceding a goal in the 2011/12 campaign.
The goalkeeper’s contract runs out in 2015 and Levante want to tie down their star to a new contract as his current one includes a minimum fee release clause of just 8 million. After starring in his side’s 1-1 draw against Barcelona in January, Navas has the chance to further raise his stock as Levante face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu this Sunday.
