Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo is the subject of a bid from newly-promoted Premier League side Leicester City.
According to Turkish website fanatik, the Foxes have started the negotiations with a 5million bid for the Paraguayan hitman. Cardozo has been linked to several Premier League clubs in the past having boasted a superb goalscoring record in Portugal for the best part of seven years. And with his size and physicality perfectly suited to the English game it seemed only a matter of time before he eventually moved to these shores. And while Liverpool, West Ham and Arsenal had all previously tracked the striker, Leicester are the ones to have launched a bid for the Paraguayan.
The Foxes are desperate for some proven goalscoring class to give them the best possible chance of staying in the top-flight. Nigel Pearson took the Foxes back to the Premier League following a 10-year absence and backed by Thai billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha will launch a series of moves to increase the quality in their squad. Cardozo appears to fit the bill for a striker that could potentially prove the difference to staying up and going down.
He has been in and out of the team this year at Benfica, starting just six games in the league, but the fact he still managed seven goals is testament to his goalscoring prowess, even at 31.
