Liverpool are weighing up a summer bid for Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Brazilian was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal last summer whilst still at his previous club Bayern Munich, though he ended up staying in the Bundesliga as he instead chose to sign for Wolfsburg.
The likes of Manchester United and Manchester City have both been linked with the 26-year-old since then, as it has occasionally been reported that he would have a minimum release clause fee of around 20million. Liverpool are the latest side to show an interest, as manager Brendan Rodgers plans to improve his squad for the demands of Champions League football next season.

Although the likes of Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen have shown some improvement for the Reds this season, Rodgers is seemingly keen to add a more natural defensive midfielder to his lineup. I have heard we’re likely to go after Luiz Gustavo at Wolfsburg, a club source confirmed. “He nearly joined Arsenal last summer and we think he could still be open to a move to England. “
