Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is keen on a reunion with Argentine winger Angel Di Maria next season. According to a report in Le 10 Sport, Mourinho wants to add some more wide options to his squad this summer and is looking to bring in Real Madrid star Di Maria who he managed for three seasons at the Bernabeu.
The 26-year-old has had something of an up-and-down season at the Bernabeu this year, occasionally appearing unhappy and unsettled and reportedly coming close to leaving the club last summer.
The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with the Argentine, while Ligue One pair Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are also monitoring his situation. Di Maria’s recent improvement in form may have sealed his place in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for next term, and it is thought that he would prefer to remain in the Spanish capital as long as he feels valued by the club. Despite the upturn in form, Di Maria is reported to be waiting to assess his future until after this summer’s World Cup. Should Mourinho make an official approach, then the Argentine winger could well be persuaded to make the move to west London for next season. Di Maria has contributed 11 goals and 19 assists in all competitions this season, and scored the opener for Real as they beat rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.
