Barcelona and Lionel Messi are ready to end a drastic run of results by agreeing terms over a new and improved deal for the Argentine forward.
The Catalan club have suffered a three-game run of defeats in the past week, which has seen them fall out of the race in La Liga, the Champions League and lose the final of the Copa del Rey to rivals Real Madrid. A drastic week has been followed by heavy criticism from media, club’s fans and the players themselves but the club are having to act quickly to halt anymore talks of a crisis.
That has led president Josep Maria Bartomeu to resume talks with Jorge Messi, Leo’s father about a new and improved deal.

Messi, is currently the second highest paid player at the Nou Camp after the summer signing of Brazilian Neymar and it is highly expected that the Argentine international will gain a bumper deal. Reports of links to Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain have been rife this season, leading to the La Liga giants to prompty discuss a new deal. Currently, it is understood that Barca have offered Messi a deal worth 200m for five years, but Catalan daily Sport believe that the forward wants 400m over four years.
However, with fan pressure and a drastic drop in form, it is fully expected that the club will promptly offer Messi the deal he desires to remain with the club.
