Manchester city have made Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva a summer transfer priority.

The Brazilian defender is generally regarded as the best centre-back in world football and has been linked with moves to Barcelona, City and Real Madrid. According to Spanish source Frichajes. net, City will go all out for Silva this summer as they bid to land the Brazilian and strengthen their defence. City are aware that landing Silva will be a huge task, but are prepared to keep chipping away at the PSG hierarchy to influence negotiations. Silva, 29, joined PSG in the summer of 2012 and has helped his side regain the Ligue One title after a 19 year wait. He will be a prominent figure in the summer when he leads out Brazil in their home World Cup. City are reported to be looking at Silva to come in and form a dominant partnership with captain Vincent Kompany at the Etihad Stadium. Despite his error in Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool, Kompany’s position is safe, but he has had to play with several partners, including Martin Demichelis, Matja Nastasic and Joleon Lescott and coach Manuel Pellegrini wants to strengthen in that area.
