Manchester United could rival Arsenal for the signing of former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 27-year-old has had an impressive season in the Bundesliga with Schalke since joining the club from AC Milan last summer, and may be on the move again with bigger clubs eyeing him up this year. Arsenal have already been linked with a move for the versatile midfield player, and it has now emerged that United are also interested in snapping him up as they look to rebuild in that area for next season.

Although Boateng largely played as a winger during his time at Milan, he has now been used mostly as a defensive midfielder, and it is thought that that is where United would look to use him, despite manager David Moyes also being in the market for new wide-players.
Having started his career in Germany with Hertha Berlin, Boateng may favour a stay in the Bundesliga, though he has played in England before with Tottenham and Portsmouth during his days as a youngster. Now a more established and proven player, the Ghana international looks like being one of several Schalke players attracting interest from bigger clubs this summer, with star youngster Julian Draxler also expected to leave.
