Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that he is trying to persuade Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas to join the club, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Spanish keeper has been a bit part player for Spanish giants Real Madrid this season, playing only in the Copa del Rey and the Champions League and it is fully expected that he could leave the club this summer.
That has seen the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal linked with a summer move and the latter have edged closer after midfielder Santi Cazorla made it known he had been in contact with the keeper over a move. During an interview with Sport360, Cazorla was asked about the possibility of Casillas moving to Arsenal and he said: “I have told him, but so far he has just been curious about my experience in England.
His situation is complicated, but he has to make a decision. Lots of clubs want him, including Arsenal, but I think it would be very difficult to leave Madrid because of what the club represents. He knows what he has and what he could find at another club. Casillas has made an incredible 671 appearances for Real Madrid and has guided them to two Champions League titles.
