Arsenal could target Everton right-back Seamus Coleman to replace Bacary Sagna this summer, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 25-year-old has been in superb form this season, scoring seven goals from the back and establishing himself as one of the finest attacking full-backs in the Premier League, catching the attention of his old boss David Moyes at Manchester United. Arsenal could now look to join the running for his signature, as Arsene Wenger faces the prospect of losing the long-serving Sagna when his contract expires at the end of the season, with a move to Ligue 1 looking likely for the Frenchman.

Although it is thought that Wenger’s priority would be to offer Sagna an improved deal and keep him at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners have been keeping an eye out on potential replacements for the former Auxerre man, with a club insider confirming that Coleman could be one of their summer targets. Real Madrid’s Daniel Carvajal has also been linked with Arsenal in recent times, but Coleman arguably looks the more impressive player at the moment, as the young Spaniard has not had his best season since moving to the Bernabeu this year. It’s obvious to everyone that Coleman’s been one of the best full-backs in the league this season, an Arsenal source said. “My understanding is that Wenger is considering a move for him or Carvajal. The latter might be cheaper, but Coleman might be worth spending that extra money on at the moment.
