Arsenal could be set to renew their interest in Bayer Leverkusen winger Heung-Min Son, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 21-year-old South Korean international is one of the most promising talents coming through in German football at the moment, and was linked with a whole host of top clubs last summer before eventually opting to join Leverkusen from previous club Hamburg.
The versatile attacker, who has played mostly as a wide forward this season for Leverkusen, was watched by the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in last year’s transfer window, and Arsenal were also thought to be in the running for his signature.
The Gunners remain keen on bringing in new attacking players, with a shortage of depth both upfront and out wide, and could now make Son their top priority ahead of next season. Son has managed 9 goals and 2 assists in all competitions this season, and could provide an alternative upfront to Olivier Giroud, as well as offering more pace and directness out wide, with Arsenal lacking alternatives to the injured Theo Walcott in that department. Leverkusen will no doubt be desperate to hold on to one of their best players so soon after signing him, but Arsenal are seemingly ready to spend big on marquee signings this summer, having also been strongly linked with Schalke starlet Julian Draxler in recent months.
