Arsenal have emerged as contenders to sign Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar in the summer.
The Brazilian goalkeeper joined Toronto FC on loan for the rest of the season after QPR boss Harry Redknapp took the decision to use former England number one Robert Green between the sticks.
That left Cesar scratching around for game time ahead of the World Cup is his homeland this summer. QPR’s owner Tony Fernandes admitted in January that he would allow Cesar to leave, citing that it would be “a waste of for someone with such immense talent not to be playing”.
However, the Brazilian will return to Europe later in the year in search of a move from west London. Benfica are reportedly keeping tabs on the player, but FootballDirectNews.com understands that Arsenal are also witchingly closely.

The Gunners are getting ready to revamp their squad in the summer with regular number one Wojciech Szczesny expected to be moved aside for a more experienced stopper, according to a source.
The Gunners are reportedly looking at Iker Casillas and Victor Valdes at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, but a more economical option is thought to be preferred with former Inter Milan stopper Cesar also on the list.
