Napoli are reportedly considering a move for Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado in the summer, if Gonzalo Higuain leaves the Italian club.
Higuain joined Napoli in the summer as part of a 34. 5 million deal in the summer as a replacement for Edinson Cavani, who left for Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentine has adapted to life in Italy well in his debut season, scoring 22 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions for Rafael Benitez’s side, and has reportedly attracted interest from potential suitors, despite having only been in Naples for less than a year. Arsenal were believed to have been close to signing Higuain from Real Madrid last summer before he made the move to Italy and are understood to be tracking the forward’s situation. According to Il Mattino,Napoli are considering a move for Soldado, who has struggled in his first season at Spurs following a 26 million move from Valencia, as a potential replacement for Higuain should they receive an offer for the 26-year-old that is too good to turn down. Spurs technical director Franco Baldini’s position is believed to be under heavy scrutiny from chairman Daniel Levy after the club’s summer acquisitions have thus far failed to live up to the hype, with reports that the north London club could be prepared to sell a number of those signings, including Soldado.
