Everton could look to sign West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Diame this summer, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Toffees may find themselves short of options in midfield next season if they fail to keep loan star Gareth Barry on a permanent deal from Manchester City, and manager Roberto Martinez appears to be preparing for this eventuality.

A few other names have been mentioned as possible targets for the Merseyside giants, including Stoke City’s Charlie Adam, but it now seems that Diame has become a priority target.
The Senegalese international has been a highly influential player for the Hammers over the last couple of seasons, having initially impressed in the Premier League at Wigan Athletic, where he played under Martinez when the Spaniard was in charge of the Latics. Diame has also been linked with big names such as Arsenal and Liverpool in recent times, and would represent a real coup for Everton if they can land him. Roberto knows Diame well from their time at Wigan and I think he’d definitely try to get him if we can’t keep Gareth at the club, an Everton insider revealed.
