Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up an offer for Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The England international is rated highly by Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood and technical director Franco Baldini, who is in charge of player recruitment at White Hart Lane.
With champions United widely-expected to bring in at least two midfielders this summer as boss David Moyes looks to overhaul his under-achieving squad, Cleverley could fall even further down the pecking order.
He has failed to cement a regular starting place in the Red Devils side this term, even when 27million signing was sidelined through injury.

The Belgian is back in the team and Cleverley, whose chances of playing a major role in England’s World Cup campaign at the end of the season are being harmed by his lack of first-team exposure, is fighting for his future at the club. A source close to Spurs told FDN that the north London outfit hope to capitalise on the 24-year-old’s situation at Old Trafford, adding: “The aim is to enter into talks about a permanent deal in the summer, although a season-long loan isn’t out of the question at this end if United are willing to consider it. ”
