West Ham United could offer an escape route to Manchester City’s forgotten man Jack Rodwell, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 22-year-old has barely featured for City since making the move to the club from Everton last season, though he had been regarded as a top young prospect at Goodison Park.
With the England international looking unlikely to force his way into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans at the Etihad Stadium, it is now thought that West Ham could look to snap him up in the summer.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is keeping an eye out on potential new signings for next season, and could be interested in taking Rodwell on an initial loan move for a year before bringing him to Upton Park permanently.

A club insider explained that Rodwell’s injury record remains a concern for Allardyce, though he is a fan of the player. If he can stay fit he’d be a great signing, a West Ham source said. “I imagine Sam will want to take him on loan first, so we’ll see if City are open to that in the summer. “
