Arsenal look set to revive their interest in Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan this summer as a possible alternative to Schalke star Julian Draxler.
Arsene Wenger is seemingly ready to spend big again in the next transfer window, carrying on where he left off with the Gunners’ club-record purchase of Mesut Ozil this season, though they look to face increased competition for one of their top targets in Draxler.
This could then see Wenger pursue a move for Turan, FootballDirectNews.com understands, as the Turkish international has been watched closely by the club in the past.
The 27-year-old has been a key performer for Atletico over the last couple of seasons and has continued to be linked with moves away to bigger clubs, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool also believed to be keen on him.
Turan signed a new contract with the Spanish club earlier this season, though Arsenal may be ready to meet his buy-out clause of around 34million.
This would likely be cheaper than Draxler, who has been valued at closer to 38million by Schalke despite his relative inexperience.
