Liverpool: Reds target Spurs midfielder
11th December 2013 4:16pm GMT
Liverpool are again being linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, SportsDirect News has learned.
The Icelandic international has not reached his best form for the north London club, having initially impressed greatly with a loan spell at Swansea City in the second half of the 2011/12 season, attracting the interest of both Tottenham and Liverpool at the time.
The Swans were then managed by current Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, and the Northern Irishman is thought to be keen on working with the player again if he is to become surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham may consider selling one or two players this January as they eye a few new additions themselves, with attacking players likely to be on the agenda after a poor return in front of goal so far.
Sigurdsson faces plenty of competition for places with the likes of Paulinho and Lewis Holtby also in the Spurs squad, whereas the Reds are in need of another creative player in their lineup.
Rodgers has also been monitoring the likes of Javier Pastore and Will Hughes ahead of January, but is also understood to be keen on Sigurdsson.
