West Ham news: Vaz Te out for 12 weeks
30th October 2013 12:38pm GMT
West Ham United's striker Ricardo Vaz Te is set for a 12-week lay-off after dislocating his shoulder in the weekend clash with Swansea City.
It's a massive blow to the Premier League side after the Portuguese striker and wideman had been used as an effective replacement for Andy Carroll over recent weeks.
And with the £15 million signing still consigned to a Belgian clinic where he is recovering from a foot injury, the club's striking options are now down to one.
Manager Sam Allardyce has only Carlton Cole - recently returned to the club and with only two reduced appearances for the club under his belt - available for the clash against Aston Villa at the weekend.
Vaz Te was injured when falling badly at Swansea on Sunday and it was today confirmed exclusively to SportsDirect News that he will be out for three months.
Vaz Te had earlier this season demanded a transfer after feeling he'd been pushed down the pecking order at the club but has battled back to make his mark.
A source told us: "It will be a 12-week lay off. The lad's had his share of bad luck this season for sure."
