Chelsea news: Mourinho eyes Benteke
15th October 2013 2:40pm BST
The Chelsea boss is aware that both Lazio and Juventus are keenly interested in the player and is considering a January move.
Having missed out on Wayne Rooney in the summer and allowing Romelu Lukaku to go on loan for Everton for the season, a move for the Villa hitman could now be on the cards.
Benteke signed a new deal in the summer but the Londoners would have no proble reaching his current £30 million valuation.
He has scored five times already this season as he continues his brilliant progress from a hugely impressive first season at Villa Park.
The Belgian international has impressed in the English top flight since moving to Villa Park from Genk last year and the 22-year-old's performances have not gone unnoticed in Italy.
However, neither has the financial muscle of the Londoners who are continuing to track the player's progress in the first half of the season.
The prospect of seeing Lukaku play as a right-sided striker alongside Benteke through the middle next season is a hugely exciting prospect as Mourinho considers his options.
A source told SportsDirect News exclusively: "There's obviously interest and although the club has made a great start, Benteke is seen as an obvious candidate for a bid."
