Man City transfer news: City ready Suarez bid
31st July 2013 2:42pm BST
Manchester City are preparing to enter the race for want-away Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini is understood to have identified Suarez as the ideal replacement for Carlos Tevez, who joined Juventus in a £10 million at the end of last season.
After having already confirmed the capture of Sevilla forward Alvaro Negredo, the Manchester club appear determined to continue their summer recruitment.
Despite having had initial concerns over the player's discipline problems, City's owners now appear set to finance one more multi-million pound signing this transfer window.
As well as Tevez City also sanctioned the departure of Mario Balotelli in January.
Those two deals are believed to have been motivated the players' disruptive influence on the side.
Initially therefore, the City hierarchy were believed to have doubted the value of pursuing Suarez, a player who still has six games of a ten-match ban to serve for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanonic.
Newly-appointed manager Manuel Pellegrini has brought a strong professionalism with him to Eastlands however and Suarez, it is hoped, will benefit from such an environment.
Premier League rivals Arsenal have already had two bids rejected for Suarez, as Liverpool reportedly hold out for a fee of £50m.
As negotiations continue behind the scenes over the coming days, City are expected to enter the chase too.
