Man Utd news: Moyes mulls Strootman alternatives
11th July 2013 4:08pm BST
Manchester United boss David Moyes has shifted his attention away from PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman and is now focusing on other targets.
The Dutch star, who was a key target for the flame-haired Scot, now looks set to join Serie A side Roma.
Also, Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has publically declared his interest in fellow United target Thiago Alcantara – with the Barcelona man dragging his heels over a move to Old Trafford.
That has seen Moyes explore other options, and SportsDirect News has learned he has drawn up a shortlist of prospective midfield targets.
Juventus star Claudio Marchisio is one such option.
The £25 million-rated 27-year-old has also been linked with Chelsea, but he publically admitted he would be “very proud” to see United make a move for him.
However, with Monaco hovering, Moyes also has his eye on Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.
The Croat has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and United made a move for the playmaker before he swapped Tottenham Hotspur for the Bernabeu.
He is rated at around £30m by Real officials, and United should have no problem in matching the Spaniard’s asking price should they wish, though Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Marco Verratti is another option – with Moyes monitoring his situation in the French capital.
