Liverpool news: Suarez "up for auction in France"
24th June 2013 1:43pm BST
Luis Suarez could be the subject of a Ligue 1 bidding war this summer, after mega-rich French clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco emerged as potential destinations for the want-away Liverpool striker.
After having already spent over £110 million on transfers this summer, SportsDirect News understands that Monaco's Russian billionaire owner Dmitri Rybolovlev is prepared to finance one more massive deal, after he was thwarted in his efforts to bring AC Milan midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng to the club.
The Ligue 1 side have already signed up Colombian hit-man Falcao, FC Porto pair James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho and former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho as Rybolovlev attempts to construct a side capable of challenging for the French title next season.
Any potential Suarez offer from Monaco would not go unnoticed in the French capital, where PSG's Qatari owners have been looking on in envy during their rival's unparalleled spending spree.
The Paris club have been keeping tabs on Suarez's situation at Liverpool for some time already and, it is believed, would be prepared to enter a bidding war for Suarez.
However, despite being banned for the first six games of the Premier League season, Suarez's sensational international form this summer has compounded Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers' determination to keep the player at Anfield next season.
The Uruguayan striker became his country’s all-time record goal-scorer with the two goals he grabbed in Sunday night's 8-0 win against Tahiti in the Confederations Cup.
