Moyes targets Howard reunion
4th June 2013 9:00am BST
Manchester United boss David Moyes may be ready to offer Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard a surprise Old Trafford return.
The American number one left United and joined the Toffees on a season-long loan deal from 2006-2007, and signed a permanent deal the next summer in a £3 million deal.
And, with Anders Lindegaard set to leave Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens, SportsDirect News has learned Moyes could be set to bid for his former stopper.
Lindegaard has grown frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities, having been relegated to the bench behind first-choice stopper David De Gea.
Moyes would love to bring in his own ‘keeper than convince Lindegaard, who has made a number of high-profile errors, to stay.
And he has drawn up a shortlist of potential stopper signings, with Howard at the top.
The 34-year-old is valued at around £2.5 million by the Goodison Park club, and would jump at the chance to work with Moyes once more.
A source close to the Toffees told us: “David has always liked Tim, as he is the consummate professional.
“He fits the bill if Moyes is looking for a ‘keeper and would love another crack at proving himself at Old Trafford.”
However, Howard is studying his options, and may yet snub Moyes in favour of a Goodison Park stay – as he is guaranteed first team football with the Toffees.
